What is the statute of limitations for a dog bite personal injury case?

The statute of limitations for a dog bite case is generally 2 years from the date of the dog bite attack, regardless of whether the dog bite lawsuit is filed under the Animal Control Act or as a general personal injury case.  However, because the victims of many dog bite attacks are children, it is important to note that the statute of limitations does not expire until the 20th birthday of  a dog bite attack victim who is under the age of 18 at the time he or she suffers a dog bite.
