October 8, 2010 – Three people were injured last Saturday when a speeding minivan crashed into a light pole and rolled over on the South Side of Chicago. According to a report at the Southtown Star, the rollover crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on Saturday morning.Police say the driver, a 27-year-old woman from Chicago, was driving northbound on Halsted Street when she lost control of her Chevy van and hit a light pole. The van then rolled over several times before crashing into a nearby building. Police say the van was traveling around 100 miles per hour in an area where the speed limit is 30 miles per hour.Three women were inside the van when it crashed, and all suffered serious personal injuries. Two of the injured are being treated for their accidentl injuries at Christ Medical Center, while the third victim has been admitted to Stroger Hospital. Their injuries appear to be life threatening. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, but police say they are in their late 20s or early 30s.Police have cited the driver on multiple counts, including driving without license, driving without insurance, speeding, damage to public property and failing to stay in her lane.
