Pedestrian Killed in Chicago Hit and Run Accident

February 21, 2011 - A pedestrian was killed Friday night when she was struck by a hit and run driver in Chicago. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, few details have been released about the fatal pedestrian accident, which occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday night.
Police say the victim was walking near South Pulaski Road when she was hit by a car. Investigators have not said if the victim was attempting to cross the street, walking on a sidewalk, or walking in the road. The victim was abandoned without any assistance by the driver, who fled the scene after striking the pedestrian. She was pronounced dead at the scene after the body was discovered.
The victim's identity has not yet been released. There were few witnesses to the crash, although police have determined that the car used in the hit and run accident was a white Pontiac or Buick. The vehicle likely has noticeable damage to its front end, including a broken windshield.
Police are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the Chicago Police Department Major Accident Investigations Unit at (312) 745-4521. More information will be added if and when it becomes available.
