Hit-and-Run Accident on Chicago’s Southeast Side Injures 4

Posted on Mar 07, 2011

March 7, 2011 - A hit and run accident on the Southeast Side of Chicago left 4 teens fighting for their lives on Saturday. According to a report at the Chicago Tribune, the victims are under the age of 18 and all suffered life-threatening personal injuries.

Police say a minivan was traveling northbound on South Torrence Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday morning when it was broadsided by another vehicle near the intersection with West 115th Street. After the collision, the minivan slammed in a utility pole. Although there were police officers in the area who saw the car crash, the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene. A description of that vehicle has not been released.

There were 4 teenagers in the minivan, all of whom suffered serious personal injuries in the hit and run accident. Two of the victims were taken by ambulance to Advocate Christ Medical Center, while the others are receiving treatment at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. All of the victims were admitted in critical condition. Three of the victims, including the 18-year-old driver, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, are now stable. However, a 14-year-old boy remains in critical condition.

If you have any information about this hit and run accident, you should contact the Chicago police.
