Drunk Driver Crashes Onto CTA Blue Line Tracks in Oak Park

March 1, 2011 - Police say the woman who crashed her car onto nearby CTA train tracks on Friday was driving under the influence of alcohol. According to a report at TribLocal.com, the 21-year-old woman from Cicero crashed shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Friday morning.

Police say the victim was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Taylor Street in Oak Park when she hit a road barrier and crashed onto train tracks used by the Chicago Transit Authority's Blue Line trains. Police and EMT workers responded to the scene to find the driver sitting on the ground near the wreckage. She suffered only minor injuries, including several broken teeth and facial injuries.

A toxicology report determined that the driver's blood-alcohol content was 0.188, so she was arrested for felony drunk driving. The woman is also facing a number of traffic violations, including speeding, driving without insurance, and driving without a valid driver's license.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the car crash, and no additional injuries were reported. The CTA's Blue Line suffered delays of about two hours while workers cleared the scene.
