Driver Charged After Hit-and-Run Accident in The Loop

March 14, 2011 - Police have apprehended the hit-and-run driver who injured 2 pedestrians in early February. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the driver was identified after she was arrested on a separate narcotics charge.

Police say the driver, a 40-year-old woman from Chicago, crashed into 2 pedestrians on Feb. 8, 2011 and fled the scene without rendering any assistance to the victims. The woman was driving an SUV in Chicago's Loop neighborhood when she hit 2 women at the intersection of Monroe Street and State Street shortly after 7 p.m. The pedestrian victims suffered serious personal injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Both women survived.

The driver is now facing several charges, including fleeing the scene of an injury accident, failing to render aid and driving without a valid driver's license. These charges are in addition to her arrest for possession of a controlled substance in March. Her court date has not yet been set.
