Car Falls From Overpass Onto Kennedy Expressway

March 8, 2011 - Police are amazed that the injuries weren't more severe in a car accident that sent one vehicle crashing off an overpass onto the Kennedy Expressway. According to a report at the Chicago Sun-Times, the car accident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Monday morning.
Officers with the Illinois State Police say 2 cars were involved in a crash while traveling on the Cumberland Avenue overpass on the Northwest Side of Chicago. The force of the collision caused one car to careen off the overpass and crash onto the Kennedy Expressway below. Amazingly, the 2 people in that vehicle did not suffer personal injuries.
There were 2 occupants in the other car, and both were injured, although their injuries appear to be minor and non-life-threatening. These victims, who have not yet been identified, were transported by ambulance to Resurrection Medical Center. Both of the victims are expected to survive.
The Chicago District of the Illinois State Police is still investigating this car accident, and it has released no information on what caused the initial crash. It was not immediately clear if any charges will be filed.
