Car Collides with Ambulance on Chicago’s South Side

March 16, 2011 - A collision between an SUV and ambulance left one person in critical condition at a local hospital. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, officers are still not sure how many people suffered personal injuries in this wreck, which occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning on Chicago's South Side.
Police say the SUV and ambulance collided on South King Drive in Washington Park, although investigators have not yet determined how the crash occurred or who was at fault. The ambulance belonged to a private emergency company, and it is not yet known if the ambulance was transporting an injured person at the time of the car accident.
At least one person suffered personal injuries, although others may have been injured as well. This victim was transported by paramedics to Stroger Hospital. The name and age of the victim has not been released, but police say he or she is in critical condition.
The Chicago Police Department is still gathering preliminary details and conducting an investigation into this crash. More information will be released if and when it becomes available.
