6 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident in West Chicago

March 14, 2011 - A collision between 2 vehicles left 6 people in local hospitals with serious personal injuries. As reported in the Daily Herald, the car accident on Saturday night occurred shortly before 7 p.m. in West Chicago.
Officers with the West Chicago Police Department say the car accident happened at the intersection of Gates Street and August Avenue. Although police have released few details about what caused the car accident, it appears that the cars collided at a high rate of speed since one of the vehicles rolled over after the crash.
Firefighters responded to the scene and requested 6 ambulances to transport the many victims. One of the vehicles was so heavily damaged that firefighters were forced to use the ‘Jaws of Life' to extricate the victims.
The car accident victims were taken to Delnor Hospital and Central DuPage Hospital with various injuries. At least some of those victims are believed to be seriously injured. Their names and ages have not yet been released. The West Chicago Police Department is still investigating this crash and has not released any further information. More information will be released if and when it becomes available.
