Symptoms of a Spinal Cord Injury

The symptoms of a spinal cord injury will depend on the ability or inability to control the arms and legs. This is based on the neurological level of the injury, which is the lowest normally functioning segment of the spinal cord, and whether or not the injury is complete or incomplete.

A complete injury means that all feeling and ability to control movement is completely lost below the neurological level. An incomplete injury means there is some feeling and ability to control movement below the area that is affected.

Loss of bladder or bowel control
Reflex spasms or activities are exaggerated
