What is the statute of limitations for an Illinois motorcycle accident case?

A: For almost all motorcycle accident cases in Illinois, the statute of limitations is two years from the date of accident. That means you have two years after the date of your motorcycle accident in which to file a motorcycle accident lawsuit. The only real exception to that is if you are involved in a motorcycle accident with a CTA vehicle or a vehicle operated by an employee of a local governmental entity. For motorcycle accidents involving CTA vehicles, you must comply with the CTA's 6 month notice provision and a one year statute of limitations. For motorcycle accident cases against local governmental entities, the statute of limitations is one year from the date of your motorcycle accident.
