The Illinois Children's Product Safety Act is a safety net for families and their children. It requires retailers and manufacturers to inform consumers if children's products are found to be unsafe. While the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is responsible for investigating and issuing recalls for defective children's products, the timeliness is not always to a parent's advantage. Most of these defective products are already being sold in stores or used at home.
