

May 19, 2010 - A woman was killed Monday morning when she was hit by a Metra train in Bartlett, Illinois. According to reports at My Fox Chicago, a 41-year-old female resident of Steamwood, died several hours after the train collision. The train accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday near South Prospect Road.
Medical examiners believe the victim may have committed suicide by intentionally jumping in front of the train. The woman was taken by first responders to St. Alexius Medical Center, where she was died shortly after 1 p.m. An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, in which medical examiners concluded that her death was a suicide. A Metra spokesman told reporters from My Fox Chicago that the Metra train was from the Milwaukee West District.
No other injuries were reported in this serious train accident. The victim's family had no immediate comment on the medical examiner's ruling. Police have not said how the victim accessed the train tracks. More information on this tragic case will be added if and when it becomes available.
