Woman Dies in Hospital after Motorcycle Crash in Cook County

September 10, 2010 - Lyons, IL - A woman has died following a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning at Salt Creek.

The Chicago Breaking News Center reports that the fatal motorcycle crash occurred at around 4:20 a.m. Saturday morning on the 4000 block of South First Avenue at Salt Creek. While the details of the accident are still unknown, other vehicles were likely involved as the police stated that several other individuals were injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The motorcycle's female passenger, 24, of the 8100 block of West 46th Street in Lyons was critically injured in the crash. She was taken to a Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, where she later died. A spokesperson from the Cook County medical examiner's office stated that the woman's time of death was 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Emergency personnel from the Lyons Police Department, the Cook County Sheriff's Department and the Lyons Fire Department were on the scene in response to the motorcycle accident.

The motorcycle accident is being investigated by the Cook County Sheriff's police reconstruction unit.
