Violent Crash Splits Car in Half in Skokie

November 22, 2010 - Police in Skokie are stunned that there were no fatalities in a violent car accident on Friday that ripped one car completely in half. According to a report at ABC 7 Chicago, the serious car crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday evening.

Police are still investigating what caused this crash, but initial reports indicate that 2 vehicles -- a Toyota Camry and a Pontiac -- collided near the 4400 block of Oakton Avenue. Pictures from the scene show a red car that is completely split in half, with the front seats a considerable distance from the rest of the car. Police say the other car was found more than 100 feet from where the initial collision took place. Speed was likely a factor in this car accident given the condition of the vehicles after the crash.

In total, 4 people suffered personal injuries. Three of those victims were in one car. Their conditions are unknown, but all are expected to survive, which is remarkable considering the severity of this crash. They are receiving treatment at St. Francis Hospital, according to NBC Chicago. None of the victims have been identified, and there is no word on what caused this accident.
