Verdict in Buffalo asbestos wrongful death case

In a wrongful death asbestos suit, a Buffalo, New York jury returned a verdict of $2.25 million dollars in favor of the family of a man who was exposed to asbestos from valves that he repaired in the chemical plant where he worked.  The award included $750,000 in punitive damages.

The man was exposed to the asbestos over a period of several years at the chemical plant before being diagnosed may years later with mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer closely associated with exposure to asbestos.  He died in 2005, before his asbestos suit reached trial.
