Two-Car Accident Sends 4 to Chicago Hospitals

July 22, 2010 - Several people suffered personal injuries on Tuesday when a car accident resulted in a taxi cab slamming into the front of a 7-Eleven store. According to reports at WGNTV.com, the car accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Investigators with the Chicago Police Department are still trying to determine how this crash occurred, but initial reports indicate that a Toyota Corolla traveling on Wabash Avenue ran a red light and crashed into the taxi at the intersection of Wabash Avenue and Adams Street. The force of the collision propelled the taxi into a nearby 7-Eleven, breaking the front windows. Two clerks working inside the 7-Eleven were nearly hit by the taxi cab, but they escaped uninjured.

In total, four people were injured in this accident, including the taxi driver and the driver of the Corolla. Two pedestrians also suffered personal injuries. Most of the victims are being treated at Stroger Hospital. Their identities have yet to be released, but police say all of the victims are expected to survive. The investigation continues, but it is currently unclear if any charges will be filed in connection with this serious car accident.
