Two Injured in Chicago Taxicab Crash

January 13, 2011 - Two people suffered personal injuries on Wednesday when a Chicago taxicab crashed into a building. According to a report at ABC 7 Chicago, the car accident occurred shortly before 3:30 a.m. on the North Side of Chicago.

The Chicago Police Department is still investigating this crash, and investigators have released few details about how the car accident occurred. We do know that a taxicab was driving on Lincoln Avenue when it hit an unidentified building in the 2500 block near the intersection with Altgeld Road.

The building was not residential but is home to 2 businesses, which were closed at the time of the crash. Pictures from the scene show a red taxi with its back end pushed through a glass window. There is a large tree branch in front of the cab, so it is feasible that the cab driver swerved to avoid the branch.

Police have not said how many people were in the cab when it crashed, but 2 people suffered personal injuries. The victims were transported by ambulance to Illinois Masonic Hospital. Their identities have not been released, and their current conditions are unknown at this time.
