August 6, 2010 – An early morning car accident in Chicago left two police officers with personal injuries. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the officers, who serve with the Chicago Police Department, were on duty when another vehicle crashed into their police cruiser. The car accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.Details are still forthcoming about this car accident, but initial reports indicate that the police officers were patrolling California Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood when another driver crashed into their vehicle. Police say the driver who caused this accident ran a stop sign. Both police officers were transported to an unnamed hospital with personal injuries. A spokesman with the Chicago Police Department said that their injuries were relatively minor and not life threatening. The names of the officers have not been released.Police have not said if the driver who caused the car accident was also injured.
