Truck Accident on I-90 Injures Three

August 12, 2010 - A serious truck accident on the outskirts of Chicago sent 3 people to local hospitals on Wednesday. According to reports at My Fox Chicago, the crash involved a semi-truck and a disabled vehicle. The truck accident occurred late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning in Hoffman Estates.

Police have released few details about this truck accident, but initial reports indicate that a semi-trailer was driving on Interstate 90 when it collided with a vehicle that had broken down. Police have not said if the disabled vehicle was on the shoulder or in the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle, who had been attempting to push his car, narrowly escaped being hit by the semi-truck. He was hit by debris, however, which caused serious personal injuries. His injuries were severe enough that first responders decided he would need an airlift to a trauma hospital. Two people in the semi-truck were also injured, but not seriously.

The identities of the victims have not been released and there's no word on the condition of the car's driver. Pictures from the scene show that the semi-truck suffered serious front-end damage and likely caught on fire after the collision.
