Spring Grove Woman Killed in Head-On Collision

August 13, 2010 - One woman is dead after a horrible head-on car crash in Antioch on Thursday morning. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the 22-year-old woman from Spring Grove was pronounced dead at the scene after her vehicle crashed head-on into an SUV. The car accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Police are still investigating how this car crash occurred, but investigators believe that alcohol or speed may have played a role. The victim was driving a Mitsubishi on West Grass Lake Road when she may have lost control going around a curve. Her car crashed head-on into a GMC SUV with 3 occupants.

Police say the driver of the Mitsubishi was likely killed instantly. The driver of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle, while 2 other occupants were trapped in the wreckage. All 3 suffered serious personal injuries and were airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center and Saint Anthony Medical Center. Their conditions are currently unknown.

Pictures from the scene show that both vehicles sustained severe front-end damage. Papers and clothing items littered the roadway around the wreckage.
