Several Injured in Alcohol-Fueled Mount Greenwood Crash


June 10, 2010 - Four people were injured after a drunk driver crashed head-on into another vehicle in Chicago's Mount Greenwood neighborhood. According to reports at The Southtown Star, the 67-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol when he drove the wrong way down Kedzie Avenue and struck another car.

Police say the car accident occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The alleged drunk driver was behind the wheel of a Ford Taurus. The driver and three other men riding in the Taurus suffered serious personal injuries. Fortunately, the driver of the other vehicle was not seriously injured. Of the injured men, the driver was most seriously injured and he remains in critical condition at Christ Medical Center. Another of the male victims is listed in serious condition. The conditions of the other victims are unknown at this time.

According to reports, the driver, who is from Chicago, was drinking before the accident and was intoxicated when he got behind the wheel. The Chicago Police Department has not said if and when charges will be filed in this drunk driving crash.
