Several fatal motorcycle accidents over Memorial Day holiday

This past Memorial Day holiday weekend was notable for the unfortunate frequency with which fatal motorycle accidents took place.  There were three separate motorcycle accidents: one each in Elburn, Calumet City, and Oak Forest, that claimed the lives of six motorcycle riders.

The article addresses some of the issues that result in Illinois motorcycle accidents, most especially distracted driving.  The simple failure of car drivers to see motorcycle riders has been well-noted in several studies, but it seems that the problem is always most acute in the late spring months when motorcycle riders start taking their bikes back on the road again and car drivers are less aware of their presence.

Hopefully, car drivers will start seeing motorcyclists soon and this summer we will not have so many fatal motorcycle accidents.
