Serious Crash in NW Chicago Kills 4-Year-Old Boy

August 17, 2010 - A multiple-vehicle accident killed a 4-year-old boy and injured 2 other people on Sunday morning. According to a report at ABC 7 Chicago, the accident involved 4 vehicles that crashed on the Northwest Side of Chicago. The car accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The Major Accident Investigation Unit of the Chicago Police Department continues to investigate this fatal crash, but initial reports indicate that the victim was a passenger in a car traveling on Fullerton Avenue. Near Kilbourn Avenue, the vehicle rear-ended another car, causing both cars to crash into 2 additional vehicles.

The driver who caused the crash was riding with a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old child who has not been identified. The 4-year-old was pronounced dead later that day at Children's Memorial Hospital. The driver and the 2-year-old suffered personal injuries, but police have not released their conditions. The drivers and occupants of the other 3 vehicles were not injured, police say.

The driver who caused the crash has been arrested by Chicago Police, but they have not said what charges he or she is facing. That person's identity has not yet been released, and it's not clear how he or she is related to the 2 children.
