School Bus Crash in Orland Park Injures Several Students

October 1, 2010 - Nearly 10 children suffered personal injuries on Thursday when their school bus crashed in Orland Park, a suburb on the southwest edge of Chicago. According to a report at CBS2 Chicago, the school bus accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, as the children were being driven home from school.

The students on the bus attended High Point School, part of Orland School District 135, which is located on West Avenue in Orland Park. The bus was driving on 147^th Street when it crashed near the intersection of 147^th and LaGrange Road. Police have not said what caused the school bus to crash or if another vehicle was involved.

More than 20 students were on the bus during the accident, and police have said that 9 children suffered personal injuries. All of the injured were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals. The victims have not yet been identified, but they are thought to be in 3^rd through 5^th grades. Their conditions are currently unknown, and it's not clear if any of the injuries were life threatening. The police investigation is ongoing.
