Rollover Accident in Chicago Injures Five

August 5, 2010 - A rollover accident in Chicago on Wednesday morning left 5 women with serious personal injuries. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the car accident occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Lake Shore Drive.

Police say 5 women were riding in a Jeep when the vehicle blew a tire or had some other problem with one of its wheels, which caused the driver to lose control of the car. The Jeep crashed near North Avenue and rolled for 200 feet. All 5 of the passengers, including a pregnant woman, were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled.

First responders with the Chicago Fire Department were first on the scene and transported the victims to local hospitals, including Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. All of the victims suffered serious injuries and are listed in either serious or critical condition.

Police estimate that the pregnant woman was approximately 6 months into her pregnancy. Her condition is currently unknown. Police believe alcohol may have played a role in this accident, as several alcoholic beverages were found in the wreckage.
