Road Rage Car Crash in Maywood Kills Three

July 12, 2010 - A serious car accident in Maywood left three people dead on Thursday night. According to reports at WLS 890 AM, a 21-year-old driver chased another car in a fit of road rage, which resulted in a crash that killed three people.

Police say the 21-year-old man from Oak Park was stopped at the intersection of Chicago and Jackson streets in a Honda when a white minivan driven by an 18-year-old man approached from behind. When the Honda didn't move, the 18-year-old driver pulled alongside and asked if the driver was okay. This apparently infuriated the 21-year-old, who proceeded to chase the minivan down Chicago Avenue. Eventually the black Honda ran a red light and broadsided an SUV that was passing through the intersection on 1^st Avenue.

The 21-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the SUV were also killed, a 57-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, both from Chicago. The 18-year-old in the white minivan was not involved in the crash and was not injured. Although the investigation is ongoing, police do not believe any charges will be filed against that driver.
