Rear end accident pushes car in front of motoryclists

A married couple from St. Charles were killed in an Elburn motorcycle accident which also resulted in serious injuries to six others.  The accident happened Saturday morning as a group pf motorcyclists rode north on Route 47 near the Smith Road.  One southbound vehicle was waiting for the group to clear so that it could make a left turn when the car directly behind her was hit by yet another southbound motorist.  The impact forced the cars into one another and then into the path of the group of northbound motorcyclists.

A total of 8 motorcyclists were injured, including the two who were fatally injured.  News reports indicate that at least one of the other motorcyclists suffered serious injuries.  With this many significant injuries and deaths, there can be little doubt that the driver of the car that initiated the accident did not have enough liability insurance to make good on the damages that she caused. 

This is an important example of why motorcycle riders should be careful to obtain as much underinsured motorist coverage as they can comfortably afford.  This allows injured riders to obtain as much compensation as possible and to protect themselves in the event of a serious motorcycle accident such as this where there is insufficient liability coverage to properly compensate the victims of this motorcycle accident.
