Popular Radio Host Injured in Oak Park Bike Accident

August 18, 2010 - A popular radio host was injured last Wednesday when he was hit by a car while riding his bike. According to a report at CBS 2 Chicago, the victim, who hosts "Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me" on National Public Radio, was cycling in Oak Park.

According to a blog post written by the victim, he was hit by the vehicle's left front fender, which launched him off his bike and onto the ground. The victim was wearing a bicycle helmet, which cracked into two pieces and possibly prevented a serious head injury. A passing motorist called 911 after the victim complained of breathing trouble and back pain. Later tests at an unnamed hospital showed that he broke 2 vertebrae in his back. The recovery process for this injury normally takes about 6 weeks, and the victim has hopes of running a marathon this fall.

Police have not released any information on the driver who hit the victim, and there is no word on whether he or she will be facing any charges. The make and model of the vehicle has also not been released.
