Police Chase in Chicago Ends in Car Crash

January 10, 2011 - A police chase through the streets of Chicago ended in a car crash that injured one man. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the car chase began on the Southwest Side and ended in the suburb of Woodridge.

Police say the chase started shortly before 11 p.m. when deputies identified a stolen Ford Escort driving on South California Avenue in Southwest Chicago. Deputies attempted to pull over the driver, who ignored the sirens and flashing lights and instead drove onto a nearby freeway. Illinois State Police joined the Chicago Police Department in pursuing the suspect, who eventually crashed the stolen car on Interstate 355 in Woodbridge, a suburb of Chicago. The car crashed into a median near West 75^th Street about half an hour after the chase began.

One person in the stolen car was injured in the crash, but it was not immediately clear if it was the driver or a passenger who suffered injuries. His condition is currently unknown. Police say he has been placed under arrest, but the exact charges are not yet available.
