

July 23, 2010 - A horrific pedestrian accident caused the death of one man on Thursday, according to reports at the Chicago Sun-Times. The accident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday morning in Manhattan, a suburb of Chicago.
Police say an unidentified pedestrian was walking along U.S. 52 when he was hit by a semi-truck near West Bruns Road. The truck was traveling westbound on U.S. 52 at the time of the accident. The Illinois State Police was first to respond, where deputies found that the victim could not be resuscitated. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies with the Illinois State Police are still investigating this fatal pedestrian accident, and they have released few details at this time. The victim has not been identified, and police have also not named the truck driver or the company he works for. Investigators will attempt to determine how the crash occurred and why the victim was on the roadway. They will also look into whether or not alcohol played a role in this tragic accident.
