One Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident in Riverdale

June 3, 2010 - One man is dead after a single-vehicle accident in Riverdale. According to reports at Chicago Breaking News, the victim crashed into a pole after losing control of his car. The car accident occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to initial police reports, the victim was driving approximately 70 miles per hour on South Morgan Street in Riverdale when he lost control of the vehicle. Speed and weather were both factors in the fatal car accident, as the road was slick at the time of the crash. The victim has been identified as a 25-year-old male from Riverdale, Illinois.

His car suffered extensive damage and it took first responders more than half an hour to get him out of the car for treatment. He was taken to Provident Hospital of Cook County where he was declared dead shortly after. Police have not said if any other factors contributed to this car accident, but no other cars were involved. The victim was driving alone at the time of the crash, so no other injuries were reported.
