One Killed in Bridgeview Hit-and-Run Accident

July 28, 2010 - A wedding turned tragic over the weekend when the bride's maid of honor crashed her SUV into 3 wedding guests before fleeing the scene. According to a report at My Fox Chicago, the hit-and-run accident occurred early Sunday morning outside the Belvedere Chateau, a popular wedding venue located on W. 103^rd Street in Bridgeview, a suburb of Chicago. 

Police say the 24-year-old maid of honor was leaving the wedding shortly after 2:30 a.m. when she put her SUV in reverse and hit 3 people who were standing in the parking lot waiting for a ride. One of the victims, a 52-year-old man from Bridgeview, was pinned underneath the vehicle. The driver abandoned the SUV and ran from the scene, but she was arrested shortly later.

The 52-year-old victim who was pinned under the vehicle was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. His wife suffered several broken bones, including a broken hip and leg, for which she requires surgery. The third victim escaped serious injuries.

The driver has been charged with several felony counts of hit and run. She appeared in a Cook County Circuit Court on Tuesday, where she posted a $30,000 bond.
