Nearly a Dozen People Injured in I-88 Three-Vehicle Crash

August 25, 2010 - Lisle - Nearly a dozen people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 88 this past Saturday. The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the multi-vehicle accident injured 11 people. The car crash happened at about 3:53 p.m. Saturday afternoon close to the 130 mile marker.

A preliminary investigation by state police reveals that a black Pontiac was the first to lose control and collide with a red Chevrolet pick-up truck. On impact, the truck went across 3 lanes of traffic and crashed into a Toyota minivan in the far right lane. An Illinois State Police District Trooper stated that the minivan flipped over in the crash and landed upside-down.

Of the 11 people that were injured, 2 were listed in critical condition. All were transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville and Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. According to the trooper, no one involved in the car accident suffered life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was backed up for a couple hours because of the crash and the investigation that followed. The roadway was officially reopened at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening. At this time, state police have released no further details concerning the accident.
