Multiple Injuries Reported After Car Crashes Into Chicago Restaurant

June 11, 2010 - Numerous people suffered personal injuries on Wednesday when an SUV crashed into a Chicago restaurant. According to reports from the Chicago Breaking News Center, 8 people were injured when the vehicle drove into an outdoor dining area at Petterino's Restaurant on Dearborn Street.

The car accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Numerous ambulances were called to the scene to assist the many injured victims. Those victims are receiving treatment for their personal injuries at a variety of medical centers in Chicago, including Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Rush University Medical Center. No fatalities were reported in this serious accident, but 2 of the victims are in critical condition. The other 6 victims are in serious or fair condition.

Police have not said if the driver was impaired in this crash, but similar accidents have occurred at the same restaurant. The Chicago Breaking News Center reports that 2 other vehicles crashed into the restaurant last year -- one in April and another in May 2009. This may prompt officials to look into the intersection of Randolph and Dearborn Streets to see if any safety improvements can be made to that area.
