

December 16, 2010 - Seven people suffered serious personal injuries on Wednesday in a multi-car accident on the South Side of Chicago. As reported at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the serious crash happened just before 8 a.m. during the morning rush hour in Grand Crossing.
The Chicago Police Department has not released many details about this crash, but initial reports indicate that at least 2 vehicles were involved in a collision at the intersection of South Stony Island Avenue and East 76th Street. Pictures from the scene show that a Chicago Police SUV collided head-on with a black minivan. Both the SUV and minivan had significant front-end damage, and wreckage was strewn throughout the intersection.
In total, 7 people were injured in this crash, including an on-duty Chicago Police officer. The officer, who has not yet been identified, was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. His condition is not currently known, but police believe his injuries are not serious. The other 6 victims have also not been identified. One of those victims is currently in critical condition at a local hospital, while the rest of those hurt in this crash suffered minor injuries.
