Motorcyclist Killed in County Club Hills Crash

June 11, 2010 - A 51-year-old man died on Thursday night after a motorcycle accident on Interstate 57 in County Club Hills, Illinois. According to reports at CBS2 Chicago, the victim was driving south on I-57 near Interstate 80 when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. The accident occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Police reports indicate that the 51-year-old man was driving through a construction area on the freeway, and the road was bumpy and uneven, which contributed to the motorcycle crash. The victim was pronounced dead at St. James Hospital and Health Centers. Police say he did not have a motorcycle helmet on at the time of the accident.

No other vehicles were involved in this fatal motorcycle crash, so no other injuries were reported. Parts of the freeway were closed into Friday morning as emergency personnel cleared the scene. Police have not said if the road conditions were the only contributing factor to this accident. Reports indicate that the victim was attempting to pass another vehicle when he lost control, but police have not said if speed was a factor.
