Motorcyclist Dies in North Chicago Crash

August 11, 2010 - A young man lost his life on Monday in a motorcycle crash on the North Side of Chicago. According to reports at the Daily Herald, the victim has been identified as a 24-year-old man who lived on Dryden Lane in Arlington Heights.

Police say that the victim was riding his motorcycle on West Belmont Avenue when he rear-ended a car that was slowing to make a turn. The motorcycle accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday night. The force of the collision threw the victim onto the car's windshield and propelled his motorcycle into oncoming traffic, where it hit two cars before coming to a stop. Police are still not sure exactly what caused the fatal accident, and they were not sure if he was wearing a motorcycle helmet when the motorcycle crash occurred.

The victim was taken to Loyola University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just minutes after the accident. The Chicago Police Department has not released any information on the other drivers involved in this accident, but a spokesman noted that one of the drivers was cited for driving without car insurance.
