Motorcycle Crash on Kennedy Expressway Kills One

October 20, 2010 - A local Chicago man died last week after he crashed while riding his motorcycle on the Kennedy Expressway. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the victim crashed his motorcycle shortly after 10 p.m. on Oct. 11.

The victim was riding a 2002 Yamaha Y2F-R6 motorcycle on the north side of the Kennedy Expressway when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed in the northbound lanes of the freeway. The accident happened near the exit for Damen Avenue. The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died the next morning.

The medical examiner's office says the victim suffered massive head injuries and other personal injuries; they have not said if he was wearing a helmet at the time of the motorcycle crash. The victim has been identified as a 20-year-old man who lived on West Montrose Avenue in Chicago.

No other vehicles were involved in this fatal motorcycle accident, and no additional injuries were reported. The medical examiner's office expects to perform an autopsy on Tuesday, Oct. 19 to determine an exact cause of death.
