Numerous people are victims of trip and fall injuries in Illinois every year. Most of them are caused by objects or unsafe floor conditions. Recently, a man has filed suit in Cook County because of injuries he sustained in a trip and fall accident on the movie set for Public Enemies.
Fake Cobblestones Cause Real Injuries
According to the Chicago Tribune, John McManus claims that in May of 2007, he tripped on fake cobblestones which were on the set of the film Public Enemies. The suit claims that McManus' feet sank into the rubber "cobblestones," which caused his left foot to get snagged underneath some metal trolley tracks. McManus then allegedly fell and suffered serious but unspecified injuries.
The incident allegedly occurred while McManus was crossing Chicago's Lincoln Avenue in an area where the film was being shot. He claims that there were no barriers, signs, or other warnings to alert him to the fake cobblestones and metal tracks. The lawsuit reportedly seeks at least $50,000 in damages and names NBC Universal Inc. and subsidiaries Universal City Studios LLLP and PE Production LLC among the defendants.
