Man Struck and Killed By Motorist While Exchanging Info for Earlier Accident

December 28, 2010 - In a strange series of events, a 70-year-old man was stuck and killed by a motorist while exchanging contact information with another motorist for a different car accident in South Chicago on Monday.

According to reports from the Chicago Breaking News Center, the 70-year-old victim was exchanging insurance information with another driver around 7:30 a.m. after getting into a minor car accident on 92^nd Street near Ewing Avenue. While the driver was standing outside his vehicle and exchanging information with the other motorist, he was struck by a third car.

The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, but unfortunately did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The driver of the third vehicle was cited by police for "failure to avoid striking a pedestrian". Neither the driver of the second car or the vehicle that struck the pedestrian were injured in the series of car accidents.

Both the driver from the minor accident and the driver that struck and killed the victim told police that the sun's glare was creating visibility issues that morning.
