Man Dies After Car Strikes Bicycle in Des Plaines
September 9, 2010 - Des Plaines, IL - A man has died after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle during the Labor Day weekend.
The Chicago Breaking News Center reports that the fatal bicycle accident occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. on the 500 block of North Wolf Road. According to State Police, a vehicle was driving north on the roadway when it hit the man on a bike.
The bicyclist, 52, who lived on the 800 block of East Oakton Street, was critically injured in the crash. He was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital immediately following the accident. He later died in the hospital of his injuries.
A spokesperson from the Cook County Medical Examiner's office stated that the man's death had been ruled an accident. The fatal crash remains under investigation by State Police.
No further information concerning the accident has been made available at this time.
