Man Critically Injured in Orland Park Crash
September 17, 2010 - Chicago, IL - A 34-year-old man was injured Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle accident in Orland Park.
The Herald-News reports that the car crash happened shortly before 3:45 a.m. Wednesday morning in the 8800 block of 135th Street. Orland Park Police officers arrived on the scene to find a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix crashed on the side of the roadway.
It is believed that the Pontiac was driving westbound on 135th Street when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and went into and across the eastbound lanes of traffic. The vehicle then collided with a tree and a brick and cement subdivision sign.
The driver, who is from Romeoville, was seriously injured in the crash. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn immediately following the accident. Police stated that the man remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Police have reason to believe alcohol could have been a factor in the crash. However, no charges were filed as of Wednesday and the accident is still under investigation.
