Man Charged in Elgin Hit-and-Run Accident

June 25, 2010 - An Elgin man is facing charges after a hit-and-run accident in which he hit numerous cars. According to reports at Suburban Chicago News, the 19-year-old driver caused an accident on Michigan Street. He then crashed into several parked cars while attempting to flee the scene. The car accident occurred around 3 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

Police reports indicate that the suspect was driving the wrong way on Michigan Street in Elgin when he hit a Mitsubishi Gallant. He later fled onto Lake Street, where he hit a number of parked cars before later being arrested in a parking garage. The driver of the car he initially hit did not suffer any personal injuries, and the parked cars, including a Plymouth Breeze, were all unoccupied.

The 19-year-old driver has been charged on a number of counts, including driving without insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, and driving the wrong way. He was formally charged on Tuesday, but there is no word on when he will next appear in court. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this hit-and-run accident.
