November 22, 2010 – A pedestrian is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car on the North Side of Chicago on Sunday. According to a report at the Chicago Sun-Times, the victim suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident, which happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police say the driver fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian, leaving the victim severely injured in the middle of the road. There were several witnesses to the accident, who identified the vehicle as a red car, although the make and model has not been identified. Police say the red car was driving on North Ridge Avenue in Edgewater when the driver hit a pedestrian in the 5900 block. Witnesses called 911, and the victim was transported to Saint Francis Hospital in very serious condition. Police say he has very severe head injuries.
The red car was located by the Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Unit on Sunday afternoon, but the driver has not yet been found or identified. The investigation is ongoing.
