Grayslake Drunk Driver Dies From Accident Injuries

October 22, 2010 - A drunk driver who crashed head-on into another vehicle died from his injuries more than a week after the accident. According to a report at Trib Local, the driver died on Wednesday after being hospitalized since the Oct. 11 accident in Grayslake.

The Grayslake Police Department responded to the crash. Deputies say the man was driving on Route 83 when he crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into another vehicle near the intersection with Route 137. Police say the driver did not have his headlights on at the time of the car accident. The other driver suffered personal injuries, but his or her condition is currently unknown.

Police smelled alcohol on the driver who caused the crash, and a blood test later confirmed that he had been driving under the influence. He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he died from head injuries more than a week after the crash. That driver has since been identified as a 63-year-old man from Ingleside. Before his death, the driver was cited for drunk driving and not wearing a seatbelt.
