Four Teenagers Injured in Chicago Rollover Crash

February 14, 2011 - Four Chicago teenagers suffered personal injuries on Sunday when their vehicle rolled over after a car chase on the city's West Side. According to a report at the Chicago Tribune, the car accident occurred around 4 a.m. on Sunday morning in Homan Square.

Police say the teenagers were riding in a 1999 Cadillac sedan when they became involved in an altercation with the occupants of a Jeep. The passengers in the Cadillac apparently flashed gang signs at the teens, and the two vehicles began chasing each other.

Near the intersection of Central Park Avenue and Roosevelt Road, the driver of the Jeep lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole. The Cadillac also crashed into a building and a parked car before rolling over several times. Police say the Jeep was gone by the time first responders arrived, and investigators are now looking to question that driver.

A 17-year-old boy was driving the Cadillac; he and a 16-year-old boy are being treated for personal injuries at Stroger Hospital. Two additional 17-year-old boys were admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital. Their identities have not been released, and their conditions are currently unknown. The driver received a number of citations, including speeding, driving without insurance, and other traffic violations.
