Five-Year-Old Waukegan Girl Injured in Alcohol-Related Crash

June 1, 2010 - A five-year-old girl suffered serious personal injuries on Thursday after her mother allegedly drove while intoxicated and caused a car accident. According to reports at the Lake County News-Sun, the victim was riding in a car on Thursday when her mother crashed into another car and then crossed into oncoming traffic before hitting another vehicle. The car accident occurred on South Pulaski Road.

The five-year-old victim was seriously injured in the crash, and she is receiving treatment for her injuries at Mount Sinai Hospital. Her condition is currently unknown, but doctors say her injuries are very serious. Police reports indicate that the child was not in a child-safety seat at the time of the car accident.  

The 25-year-old driver is facing a variety of charges stemming from the crash, including felony aggravated DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident. She is also charged with two seat-belt violations. Her driver's license was suspended and she did not have insurance at the time of the crash. The driver's bond has been set at $100,000.
