Driver Missing in Crash on Dan Ryan Expressway

December 21, 2010 - The Illinois State Police are attempting to determine what happened in an early-morning crash in which the driver was nowhere to be found. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, police found the wreckage of an accident early on Saturday morning but the driver was not in or around the vehicle.

The car accident took place shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Witnesses reported seeing a car accident on the northbound side of the Dan Ryan Expressway near West 63rd Street. The wreckage was left in the middle lane, but the driver and the other vehicle were both missing.

Witnesses also claim that they saw men fighting after the crash, so it may be possible that the accident was intentional and whoever caused the crash took the victim with them. Investigators with the Illinois State Police are looking into who owns the crashed car, which will hopefully lead them to the driver.

It is not yet clear if anyone suffered personal injuries in this accident, but the car did suffer extensive damage. Anyone with information is asked to call the Illinois State Police.
