September 28, 2010 – A Chicago man died early Sunday morning after his car crashed and caught on fire on Lake Shore Drive. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the car accident occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. The victim has been identified as a 33-year-old man from South Wentworth Avenue in Chicago.The victim lost control of his vehicle while attempting to exit Lake Shore Drive, police say. After leaving the roadway, the car crashed into a tree and caught on fire. Passing motorists saw the crash and were able to pull the driver out of the burning car and call emergency personnel. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and no other injuries were reported. No other cars were involved in the accident.The victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died approximately 2 hours after the crash. Police are still investigating this fatal accident, and they have not yet said what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle. The Cook County Medical Examiner is expected to perform an autopsy this week.
